Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
The position exists to execute drill and blast QAQC program and support the Coordinator in supervising Mining Assistants and to be in charge of Blasting operations and blasting resources, materials and work processes employed at FQM Sentinel Mine. The role also exists to provide technical guidance to employees on Blasting and drilling related matters in order to ensure that the blasting works are planned and completed on schedule in line with quality and safety standards.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;
Responsible to carrying out day-to-day blasting operations and providing guidance to blasting assistants.
Encouraging teamwork, facilitating related professional work processes and resolve any escalated onsite issues to ensure that work is correctly prioritized and completed.
Monitor the explosive contractor and drilling contractor to ensure work quality is followed in executing day to day work.
Put up the program of ensuring MMU Truck Calibrations are as to specifications and Charging procedures are followed.
In Charge of checking double booking on the explosive contractor loading sheets and making sure the Dip sheets are as specified.
Responsible for on Bench QAQC activities in regards to stemming, charging and effective use of Blast IQ system. Ensuring that QAQC data integrity is upheld
Responsible for compiling reports on Blasting and filing Blasting Data.
To ensure that all work in all areas of activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating policies and procedures.
Provide on-the-job coaching to drilling and blasting personnel.
Accountable to explain daily targets to Subordinates, assign work to them and coordinates regarding work to be performed.
Accountable to ensure that resources are effectively and timely assigned and used in the Blasting operations with overall resource plan developed by the Coordinator/Superintendent e.g.; (PPE, gloves, grasses, disposables etc.).
Accountable for making sure all resources Dip-sheets, plans, are available and circulate all instruction from the Mine Coordinator and Superintendent.

Experience required to perform in this job
Minimum of 5 year of experience as Supervisor in a Mining Environment.
At least 3 years of experience in drill and blast supervision in open pit setup.
Prior experience in an open pit setup is an added advantage.
Qualifications
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Electronic initiating systems certificate.
Blasting Licence.
Valid Zambian driver’s license.
Must be Computer Literate.
