Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Survey Technician – FS (Fixed Term Contract) to join the versatile Mineral Resource Management – FS Section. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Mine Surveyor, you will be responsible for assisting the Mine Surveyor on the Lumwana Mining and Exploration leases to perform monthly measurements to LMC code of practice standards, and ensuring all duties are carried out in a safe, efficient, cost-effective manner.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Assist the Projects Surveyor to carry out pit surveys on a regular basis to enable accurate bench and total volumes to be calculated at the end of each month and for use in grade control, reconciliation and Mill throughput figure comparison. In addition, blasted areas to be surveyed for blasted stocks and contractor payment.
Assist the Projects Surveyor to carry out stockpile surveys on a regular basis to enable accurate stockpile volumes to be calculated at the end of each month for reconciliation and ore stocks calculations.
Set out pit and mining limits, batter pegs and carry out any other surveys to provide information to technical and production personnel for evaluation of excavation and placement versus design parameters.
Set out and Survey of all Grade control drill holes, face sampling and exploration drill holes as required.
Maintenance of surveying equipment to required standards.
Daily interaction with all survey personnel and other departments on an as required basis.
To be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety and encourage teamwork within the department.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade Twelve Certificate.
Able to show initiative, professional integrity and personnel management skills.
Able to use Total station, data recorder, DGPS, Automatic or digital level and any other survey equipment prescribed with minimum supervision.
Ability to show initiative and have good interpersonal skills.
A minimum of 1 year survey experience.
A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
