Job description:
Provide timely, accurate and comprehensive cost accounting service to departments for the purpose of monitoring controlling and ascertaining costs so as to enable effective planning and control of costs within budget limits.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of budgets and forecast including the planning, drafting and analysis of budgets, and collation and review forecasts.
Preparation of monthly cost reporting against budget ensure in depth understanding of reasons for differences. This will require a good understanding of your relevant departments operations.
Financial Planning and forecasting including monitoring key internal and external parameters, and analyzing the financial impact of emerging priorities, key risks and opportunities for programs.
Finance support for projects, programs and business opportunities including facilitating the investigation of funding options, analysis of business cases, decision-making and preparation of Council Reports.
Providing financial advice and support for corporate initiatives including structure and service reviews, process improvements and cost management initiatives
Providing Operating Officials with Financial information to assist them make wise decisions faced with alternative course of action.
Provide Management and other KMP employees with necessary ad hoc reports to assist them in the valuation of KMP performance
Prepare and provide any other necessary information requested by management to assist management and departmental officials in decision-making.
Provide a basis for adequate cost control and attainment of departmental objective
Ensure costs are correctly allocated including (Cost nature, activity & responsibility)
Should be the HODs/Superintendents first point of call for any finance related support
Qualifications & Experience:
Full grade Twelve (G12) school certificate.
Degree in Accounting or professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ZICA etc.)
Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar role
